Clay Carmichael
Clay Carmichael is a Chapel Hill, North Carolina native. She attended Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts and graduated with highest honors in creative writing from UNC-Chapel Hill. She is the author-illustrator of the new novel Wild Things and the award-winning picture books Bear at the Beach, Used-Up Bear and Lonesome Bear (North-South), which have been translated into many languages. She was also a contributor to The Secret to Their Success: How 33 Women Made Their Dreams Come True. Carmichael is at work on a young adult novel and also promotes and teaches writing and illustrating in schools. She lives with her husband, sculptor Mike Roig, and two spoiled cats in Carrboro, North Carolina.
