Michael Malone

Michael Malone PhotoMichael Malone was head writer of the soap opera One Life to Live from 1991 to 1996, winning an Emmy in 1994. The show was averaging five million viewers when Malone left. His next soap opera writing job was with Another World in 1997. He returned to write for One Life to Live from 2003 to 2004.  While on One Life to Live, Malone wrote a novel, The Killing Club (Hyperion) which was tied into the show. For months, viewers watched a show character, Marcie Walsh, write the book. It was published in 2005 with the authors listed as Walsh and Malone. In its first week of publication The Killing Club went to number 16 on the New York Times best-seller list. It later rose to number 11. Malone's other books, all published by Sourcebooks Landmark, include Uncivil Seasons (1983), Time's Witness (1989), Foolscap, (1991), First Lady (2001), Red Clay, Blue Cadillac: Stories of Twelve Southern Women (2002), The Last Noel (2003) and most recently, Four Corners of the Sky (2009).  Malone is currently visiting professor of English and theater studies at Duke University.  He lives with his wife in Hillsborough, North Carolina.
