Ann Prospero
Ann Prospero, author of Chefs of the Triangle: Their Lives, Recipes, and Restaurants is a former feature writer for the Miami Herald and several magazines. She also served as the editorial director in the department of publications at the University of Miami. Her novel, Almost Night, a mystery set in Miami and the Everglades, was published by Dutton in 2000. In Britain, her novel was nominated for best first novel, was on the bestseller list for first novels and was translated and published in Germany, Norway, the Netherlands and Japan. Before being a novelist, Prospero made her living as a writer, editor, and photographer in Miami, where she lived for 45 years. She earned a bachelor's in education and a master's in English literature from the University of Miami. She began her professional writing career as an editor of a small magazine for the botanical garden at Fairchild Tropical Garden. At the University of Miami, she was editorial director in the Department of Publications and served as the editor of several university publications. Additionally she was adjunct professor at the University of Miami and Miami Dade Community College where she taught writing. Her freelance articles and photographs have appeared in the Miami Herald, Miami Magazine, South Florida Gardener, GeoMudo, Vista and many others. She was a founding member of the poetry journal Palmetto Review and has given poetry performances at the Miami Center for Fine Arts, Miami Dade Community College and the University of Miami Lowe Art Museum. She now works as a freelance writer and blogger. She has three children and four grandchildren and lives in Durham, North Carolina.
