Barbara Presnell
Barbara Presnell’s collection, Piece Work, won the 2006 Cleveland State University Poetry Center’s First Book Prize, and was published by CSU in 2007. A portion of the poems was awarded the 2004 Linda Flowers Prize from the North Carolina Humanities Council and published as Sherry’s Prayer, in the NC Crossroads series. The book has been adapted to stage by Brenda P. Schleunes, producing artistic director of the Touring Theatre of North Carolina, and is performed in community colleges and other venues across the state. In addition, she has published three chapbooks, and her poems appear in journals and anthologies. She’s a 2002 and 2008 recipient of a North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship and lives in Lexington.
